Tech Industry Moves: Summer 2022

Despite the economic headwinds, there have been quite a few interesting candidate moves during the last quarter;

Internet and Fintech

London-based online clothing retailer MatchesFashion.com has announced that Nick Beighton will be its next CEO. Nick had been CEO of ASOS for more than six years.

Deliveroo has announced Scilla Grimble as its new Chief Financial Officer. Stella previously was the CFO of Moneysupermarket.com

Sid Jajodia has been appointed as Revolut’s new US CEO. He joined Revolut as Chief Banking Officer last year from another payments business PayU, where he served as CEO.

Online fashion retailer Lyst has announced that founder Chris Morton has stepped down as CEO. Former COO Emma McFerran has been promoted as the new CEO.

Lingokids – a language learning app for kids, has appointed Daniel Wilson as its VP Business Performance and Data Science. Prior to this, Daniel served as VP of Business Performance at Memrise, who are also in the e-learning sector.

Made.com a leading online retailer of furniture and other home products, has promoted Ilhan Mehmet to the role of Chief People Officer.

Online freelancer matching service Malt announces that Belén Alomar Brutau joins as Chief Product Officer. Most recently, she was the Senior Director of Marketplace Product at Vinted.

Vimeo announces the appointment of Lynn Girotto as Chief Marketing Officer and Ashraf Alkarmi as Chief Product Officer.

Mark Spiteri, a former Interim CTO of Experian and Chief Research & Development Officer at FinancialForce, joins Montagu Private Equity as Portfolio Chief Technology Officer.

Online fashion retailer Boohoo appoints Trainline’s Chief Financial Officer Shaun McCabe as its new Chief Financial Officer. He has also helped the group as an audit chair since 2020.

Oviva, a Zurich-based company providing a nutrition and lifestyle coaching app, appoints Andrea Bertone as Non-Executive Director.

Curve hires Eyal Galina as Chief Product Officer. Curve’s app aggregates various payments cards in one mobile app and allows users to pay and check the balances in one place.

eBay appoints Eddie Garcia as its Chief Product Officer. Eddie is the former Head of Commerce at Facebook and once served eBay for more than 10 years until 2014.

Mode, a digital wallet provider based in London, hires Jose Sanchez Loureda as CTO.

Software

Security software provider McAfee appoints Jennifer Biry as its new Chief Financial Officer. Jennifer had been working for Warner Media as CFO from December 2020.

Leading open source software developer Red Hat names Matt Hicks as President and Chief Executive Officer. Matt has served for the company for more than 16 years and most recently was Executive Vice President of Products and Technologies.

Blue Yonder, a US-based supply chain software company owned by Panasonic, names Duncan Angove as its new CEO.

NASDAQ listed digital advertising company Criteo appoints Brian Gleason as Global Chief Revenue Officer. Previously Brian worked for the digital agency GroupM.

Factorial HR, a provider of HR software to SMEs, announces the appointment of Carlos Jimenez as Chief Product Officer.

Jody Bailey becomes Chief Technology Officer of Stack Overflow, who provide a platform for engineers to share knowledge. Before joining Stack Overflow he was Director of Software Development at Amazon Web Services.

Tom Krause will become CEO of Citrix and TIBCO after their merger. Tom leaves Broadcom after a decade with the business.

Aspen Technology, who provides a process simulation software using AI modelling, appoints Robert Beauchamp as a Non-Executive Director. Most recently he served as Chairman of the Board at BMC Software.

Deck Commerce, a provider of order management software, has appointed Logan Killian as its new Chief Financial Officer.

Banking software provider Mambu has augmented its management team with two key hires – Fernando Zandona as CTO and Tripp Faix as CFO.

Twilio, a leading provider of SaaS communications software, hires former Microsoft executive Mark Simms as CTO.

Broadridge, a fintech company supplying financial documents around investor relations such as annual reports, names Tyler Derr as CTO.

Monex Europe, who provides FX services to corporate and institutional clients, appoints John Gallagher as the new CTO.

ComplyAdvantage, a London-based financial crime risk insight provider, appoints ex-WorldRemit executive Mark Watson as its new CTO.

Games

Tencent-backed mobile games company Miniclip has announced two key appointments, with Saad Choudri being promoted to become the new CEO and Gabi Castellan coming in as Chief Marketing Officer from Ilyon, a free-to-play game developer.

Richard Hocking, former VP Performance Marketing for King, was hired as Dream Games’ new Chief Marketing Officer. Dream Games is known for its recent hit game Royal Match, one of the highest grossing mobile games at the moment.

Rank Group has appointed Richard Harris as Chief Financial Officer. Prior to Rank Group, he held the role of CFO at a London-based estate agency Foxtons Group.

FanDuel Group has nominated David Jennings as its new Chief Financial Officer. David is ex Goldman Sachs and J&E Davy.

The Pokemon Company hires Junichi Masuda as its Chief Creative Fellow. Junichi was previously the Managing Director of Game Freak.

Mobile games developer Big Fish Games has appointed Larry Plotnick as President. He most recently served as General Manager of Gaming for Amazon Prime where he spent 11 years of his career. The company also appoints Gary Rosenfeld as its new Head of Business Development.

Fantasy sports and betting company Scout Gaming Group has named Niklas Jönsson as its new CFO.

Michael Lenz is appointed as the first Chief Analytics Officer of InnoGames, a mobile and online game developer in Germany. The company also appoints Felix Janzen as Chief Marketing Officer.

Online gambling group Flutter appoints Lisa Sewell as its new Chief People and Operations Officer.

Gaming group Entain hires Shailendra Maurya as Ladbrokes Coral’s new CTO.

XR Games, a VR Games studio based in Leeds, appoints Ken Beaty as the Chairman. Ken was a Non Executive Chairman at Sumo Group.
