Career History

TravelPerk is a business travel management company offering an AI-driven all-in-one platform for organisations to manage bookings, expenses and compliance. Robin Smith became Chief Technology Officer in May 2025, with responsibility for the company’s engineering strategy across travel and spend management. Under his leadership, TravelPerk’s engineering organisation supports a platform used by more than 6,000 companies worldwide, underpinning 50% year-over-year revenue growth and billions of dollars in annual bookings.

Smith joined TravelPerk in 2021 through its acquisition of Click Travel, where he had spent fifteen years progressing from graduate engineer to CTO. As Click Travel’s first engineering hire, his combined strengths in architecture and software development assisted the launch of its first online booking platform and gave him the tools to grow with the company on its journey to becoming the UK’s leading provider of domestic business travel solutions.

Smith graduated just before joining Click Travel, back in 2006, from Prifysgol Aberystwyth University with a BEng (Hons) in Internet Engineering.

About TravelPerk

Founded in Barcelona in 2015 by Avi Meir, Javier Suarez and Ron Levin, TravelPerk set out to simplify business travel by building a single platform that brings together bookings, expense management and policy control, supported by AI.

The company reached unicorn status in 2022 following a funding round that valued the business at over $1bn. It has since expanded aggressively through acquisitions, including Albatross API in 2020, NexTravel and Click Travel in 2021, AmTrav in 2024, and Swiss company Yokoy in 2025. TravelPerk has raised over $300m in funding to date, most recently securing $200m in a Series E round that lifted its valuation to $2.7bn. Today, TravelPerk stands as a market leader in SMB and mid-market business travel, recognised as one of Europe’s fastest-growing tech scale-ups.
