About Synthesia
Synthesia was founded in 2017 by a group of AI researchers and entrepreneurs from UCL, Stanford, TUM and Cambridge. Its technology, based on deep learning architecture developed by Prof. Lourdes Agapito and Matthias Niessner, enables text-to-video content creation with the aim of making high-quality video accessible without the need for cameras.
In January 2026, Synthesia raised $200m in a Series E funding round led by Google Ventures, valuing the company at $4bn. The round nearly doubled its $2.1bn valuation from January 2025 and also included backing from NVIDIA’s NVentures, Accel, Air Street, Evantic and Hedosophia.
The platform allows users to create videos using AI-generated presenters, voiceovers and multilingual content, without traditional filming or production equipment. The company serves more than 90% of the Fortune 100, and its products are used for onboarding, internal communications, product demos, sales and marketing.
