Career History

Dr Mark Spiteri is a Partner and Portfolio CTO in Montagu Private Equity’s Full Potential Partners team. He works with investment teams, boards, CEOs and technology leaders across the investment lifecycle, spanning technology, product, cybersecurity and AI due diligence, value creation, transformation and board-level oversight.

Mark focuses on the areas where technology most directly affects the investment thesis, customer value and business performance. He helps portfolio companies strengthen product strategy, software engineering, platform modernisation, cyber resilience, data foundations and delivery performance. He also leads AI adoption across the portfolio, helping businesses progress from experimentation to responsible, scalable applications that improve customer outcomes, productivity, margins and product defensibility.

Previously, Mark was SVP of Software Engineering at Experian, Chief R&D Officer at FinancialForce and SVP of Engineering at Software AG. He also held senior engineering leadership roles at Progress Software, supporting the successful integration of multiple acquisitions. Earlier in his career, he built the engineering organisation at Apama, a Cambridge start-up that pioneered complex event processing and high-frequency algorithmic trading.

Mark holds a BSc in Computer Science from the University of Malta and a PhD in Computer Science from the University of Cambridge.
