About Montagu
Montagu Private Equity traces its roots to 1968, when Midland Bank acquired Montagu Trust, owner of the British merchant bank Samuel Montagu & Co., and set up a private-equity division. After HSBC bought Midland Bank in 1992, the business became HSBC Private Equity. In a management buyout, Montagu’s leadership acquired 80 percent of the shares and restored the Montagu name.
Today Montagu is a leading private-equity firm headquartered in London, with over 150 employees and offices in Frankfurt, Luxembourg, New York, Paris and Warsaw. The firm focuses on five priority sectors: Healthcare, Financial Sector Services, Critical Data, Digital Infrastructure, and Education.
