Career History

EcoVadis is a SaaS company that provides ESG risk assessment, sustainability ratings, and training tools to help companies evaluate and improve their environmental, social, and governance performance across global supply chains. In 2022, backed by investors including Astorg and General Atlantic’s BeyondNetZero, it became one of the first sustainability- and ESG-ratings firms to achieve unicorn status with a valuation above $1bn. Frank Soetebeer has been Chief Technology Officer since 2021, responsible for technology strategy, platform reliability and data architecture.

Since taking on the role, he has driven a major revamp of their Product and Data Platform and has transformed the engineering organisation into a high performing agile R&D organisation. He drove the rollout and implementation of various innovation initiatives across the company including a standardized innovation framework. Directly visible customer benefits from this were the launch of the Carbon Data Network to improve primary supplier emissions data for Scope 3 reporting, and the rollout of a CSRD Questionnaire tool to support companies with the EU’s new sustainability reporting directive amongst many other product and platform improvements. In addition to this he drove the implementation of AI and GenAI as part of their products and company processes.

Prior to joining EcoVadis, Soetebeer worked at Adobe for nearly two decades in senior engineering leadership roles. He holds an engineering degree in Technical Computer Science from the Hamburg University of Applied Sciences.
