2025 TOP 30 LEADERS IN MOBILE GAMING 2025

Career History

Alexandre Pelletier-Normand became Chief Executive Officer of Rovio Entertainment Corporation in January 2021, having previously served as Executive Vice President, Games. He joined Rovio’s leadership team in 2019, overseeing the company’s games portfolio and live operations. Before Rovio, Pelletier-Normand spent many years at Gameloft, rising to EVP of Production. He is also a co-founder and board member of investment platform Execution Labs.

Under his leadership, Rovio has strengthened its focus on live content, reinvested in core franchises and scaled studio presence, notably opening a Montreal studio to expand beyond mobile. One of his signature moves has been to double down on sustaining flagship titles rather than replacing them entirely, aligning company strategy to evolving consumer behaviour. He has also overseen acquisition activity (for example, the Ruby Games deal in 2021) to bolster Rovio’s portfolio. During his tenure, Angry Birds 2 crossed $500m in lifetime revenue, cementing itself as Rovio’s top earner.

Pelletier-Normand holds a BSc in Computer Science from Université de Sherbrooke.

About Rovio Entertainment Corporation

Rovio is a Finnish mobile games and entertainment company best known for creating the Angry Birds franchise. Since beginning mobile publishing in 2009, Rovio’s catalogue has surpassed 5bn total downloads worldwide.

Rovio’s earnings are heavily driven by its flagship titles: Angry Birds 2 alone has exceeded $500m in lifetime IAP revenue, Other top performers include Angry Birds Dream Blast, which grew 33% in a recent quarter under Pelletier-Normand. The company also supports many other active and legacy titles, with 79 apps listed under Rovio on iOS, 23 of which are currently active.

In 2023, Japanese publisher Sega agreed to acquire Rovio in a deal valued at about $775m, a transaction seen as both a monetisation event for shareholders and a strategic path to accelerate growth under Sega’s umbrella. Under the acquisition, Rovio is expected to scale its IP across platforms and content formats, while preserving and enhancing its core mobile games business.
