Janne Snellman

Supercell, based in Helsinki, is a leading mobile games developer renowned for titles such as Clash of Clans, Clash Royale, Brawl Stars and Hay Day. Janne Snellman has served as Chief Strategy Officer since August 2024, having previously been Chief Financial Officer and earlier Chief Operating Officer & CFO. He also served as Chairman of the Board at Space Ape from Supercell’s initial investment in the studio in May 2017 through to February 2025, when Supercell acquired the remaining shares and took full ownership of the company.

In his CSO role, Snellman leads Supercell’s strategic investments, acquisition execution and growth-partnerships. For instance, he was quoted in Supercell’s minority investment into NextBeat, highlighting Supercell’s shift into adjacent entertainment formats.

Previously, he held the position of VP Finance at Digital Chocolate and CFO at Sumea Interactive.

Founded in Helsinki in 2010, Supercell became a global success through the sustained popularity of its mobile games, several of which have each surpassed $1bn in lifetime revenue. Clash of Clans alone has generated more than $10bn since launch and continues to perform strongly more than a decade later.

In 2016, Chinese technology group Tencent acquired an 81.4% majority stake in Supercell, valuing the company at over $10bn. Despite the acquisition, Supercell continues to operate independently, maintaining its small-team philosophy and selective approach to growth.

Beyond its own titles, Supercell has become a major backer of the next generation of studios, investing in and supporting developers such as Metacore (Merge Mansion), Space Ape Games (Beatstar), and Trailmix (Love & Pies). In 2026, Supercell agreed to acquire the remainder of Metacore and bring Merge Mansion into its live-games portfolio. Supercell Investments continues to back independent studios and game-technology businesses across mobile, PC and cross-platform gaming.
