Career History

Robin AI combines advanced language models with expert lawyers to streamline contract work. Its platform lets teams chat with an AI assistant about their contracts, search instantly across thousands of documents, and collaborate in one shared workspace - making drafting, review, and negotiation faster and more consistent. Carina Negreanu became CTO of Robin AI in June 2025, stepping up after a year as VP of AI where she had already been steering the company’s research direction. As VP of AI, Negreanu focused on turning the latest advances in natural language processing and machine learning into tools that help lawyers review, draft, and negotiate contracts more effectively.

Before joining Robin AI, she spent over five years at Microsoft, advancing through the AI research team to become a Principal Research Manager. She contributed to projects across Word and Excel, with a particular focus on Microsoft Excel Copilot, where she helped develop new AI-driven features. She also maintained a strong academic profile, publishing widely on natural language processing and machine learning.

Negreanu originally trained as a physicist, completing her Master’s in Astrophysics at University of Cambridge before earning a PhD on Gauge Theories of Gravity in 2018.

About Robin AI

Robin AI was founded in 2019 by Richard Robinson, a former Clifford Chance lawyer, and James Clough, then a machine learning researcher. Their idea was simple: combine experienced lawyers with AI systems to deliver faster, smarter, and more accessible legal services. That blend has been the company’s hallmark ever since.

Its flagship product, Robin Reports, launched in 2024, allows companies to process and summarise thousands of contracts at once, carving a new path for due diligence and compliance-heavy work. In 2025, Robin went further, making its Legal Intelligence Platform available on AWS to expand its global reach.

With $82m raised from investors such as Temasek, PayPal Ventures and Cambridge University, Robin AI has scaled rapidly, growing six-fold in 2024 alone. Today, it counts major corporates including UBS, GE and Pfizer among its clients, and is positioning itself as one of the most credible challengers in the legal AI space.
